From their head-turning fashions to their chart-topping tunes, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper know how to make a splash. And now they have their own attention-grabbing M·A·C Cosmetics lipstick shade to boot, as the new faces for M·A·C's VIVA GLAM campaign, which benefits HIV/AIDS research."They love lipstick. They love fashion. And they want to tell girls all over the world how to keep their love life safe, seductive and satisfying with eyes wide open to the facts about women and HIV/AIDS," the campaign's news release says.
And so far, it looks like these "self-created divas" have another hit on their hands.
Within days of launching, M·A·C had already sold 30,000 of its new "Gaga" and "Cyndi" $14 lipsticks with all proceeds going to AIDS research through the M·A·C AIDS Fund. Incredibly, the fund has donated more than $160 million to AIDS research, the second-largest fundraiser for AIDS behind pharmaceutical companies, since its launch in 1994 with Ru Paul as the first spokesperson for the campaign. Truly, this is beauty at its best.
